I was honored to be asked to photograph the wedding of Tory and her soon to be husband, David.  I had never been to the Empryean at the top of the PNC building in downtown Fort Wayne, IN.  It is so elegant.  Here are just a few of the photos from the day Tory and David promised to love each other forever.  Love and smiles....

Susan and Tim Engagement Session https://3rdfloorstudiosbyteresastephens.zenfolio.com/blog/2017/12/susan-and-tim-engagement-session Susan and Tim are clearly each other's best friends.  They are so funny and easy going and are quick to laugh and have fun together.  They wanted to take advantage of the fall colors and warm afternoon so we found an apple orchard for our photo session.  They are getting married in June 2018 and I am looking forward to capturing their wedding day.  I have no doubt it will be filled with laughter and tons of love.

Jan Venderly and Paul Stephens Couples Shower May 20 2017 https://3rdfloorstudiosbyteresastephens.zenfolio.com/blog/2017/5/jan-venderly-and-paul-stephens-couples-shower-may-20-2017 A small group of friends gather to laugh, share, and anticipate the wedding of Paul and Jan.  A fun game of "Guess who you are" was added to the day and we all had a great time trying to figure out what name was on the sticker on our backs.  Lots of love to you Paul and Jan!  Paul is my husband's brother and soon Jan will be a part of the family, too. Lots of love to you both!

UPDATE: June 7th: Flower arrangement party.  A few friends gather to create the floral arrangements that will be on the tables for the wedding and reception.  This was a blast!  Plus, no one can go wrong with flowers.

Noah's Senior photos Class of 2017 https://3rdfloorstudiosbyteresastephens.zenfolio.com/blog/2016/8/noahs-senior-photos-class-of-2017 Noah's wonderful and dedicated mom works at the Wells County Courthouse. (She is going to be the next County Recorder!) and had a great idea to have her son's senior photos taken in the clock tower.  I couldn't wait to have fun with this unusual space and the photos are so fun!

Jessie & Ryan Throop-Voors - July wedding - Fort Wayne https://3rdfloorstudiosbyteresastephens.zenfolio.com/blog/2016/8/jessie-ryan-throop-voors---july-wedding---fort-wayne First there was a proposal of marriage by way of a flash mob, then an engagement session ending with a paint fight.  This wedding was bound to be special, thoughtful and creative.  Starting with the book theme and the hand made paper flowers (Made from pages from books) then the exchange of gifts between the couple and the words chosen during the ceremony, this is a wedding I will always remember.  An honor, indeed, to be part of the day.  Love to you both and congratulations!

The proposal.

The engagement session.

The wedding day!!  Professional hair and makeup.

The bride's moms help Jessie get dressed.

The FIRST LOOK!!

From the night he proposed, she kept a journal. An account of their love and memories to share all their married life.  So emotional!  A perfect gift!

I just love the way he is touching her hand as he realizes what her gift entails.  So beautiful.

Their parent's wedding photos!

View from the Lincoln Tower https://3rdfloorstudiosbyteresastephens.zenfolio.com/blog/2016/6/the-view-from-the-lincoln-tower Being able to see your city from a different perspective is a great way to appreciate it in a different way.  How about from 23 stories?  Or is it 24?  The very top of the Lincoln Tower has a look out area and Instagramers of Fort Wayne was able to organize a small event to be able to shoot the town!  Here is a selection of my photos.  What do you see?  Can you see your house?

52 Week Challenge https://3rdfloorstudiosbyteresastephens.zenfolio.com/blog/2016/1/52-week-challenge Winters can be especially difficult for me to stay creative so I have decided to participate in a 52 week photo challenge.  I am following @igersfortwayne on Instagram and following their weekly suggestions. Week one: FRESH

I must confess that i used a photo that I had already taken for this one.

 WEEK 2: BLACK AND WHITE

Now, it would be too easy to just take a photo and turn it black and white.  I wanted to use black and white elements and keep the photo color.  I just loved the way this turned out!

WEEK 3: PATTERN

Any building or row of similar items will create a pattern just because they are the same shape all in a line.  I decided I wanted to create a pattern of shadows.  My beautiful son, Sam, was kind enough to allow me to use his face. I painted these circles onto a pane of glass (I took the glass out of a painting on my wall) and shone a light thru it to create these shadows.  It took a few tries and changes in the circles but I think it turned out to look really cool!

I'll keep adding each week as the year progresses.  Really looking forward to keeping up with it!

WEEK 4: WINTER

Usually the last week of January in Indiana is a good option for getting snowy winter photos.  This week it has been a little cool, very windy and more like late fall than winter.  So, I created a winter scene in my favorite room in my house to use for photos: my library.

I decided to have this as my scene and to put some white fabric on the floor to imitate snow.

Penny, one of my cats, was very helpful as I worked out the details.  When my friend arrived to be my model, the sun was getting low in the afternoon sky so we had to move quickly.  She was so excited to help me and we had just so much fun!!

I had made a little shot list to help me keep my mind on the ideas I wanted to try.  Sometimes I get caught up in the fun of the shoot and I forget some ideas then later, after everything is done, I'll remember the things I didn't do and be disappointed.  Experience has served me well!

I am really loving the dark background and the lovely effect of natural light so we moved across the room where I had that already set up.

Just too fun.  I am so happy with the results.  Looking forward to finding out what the next week will be!

WEEK 5: WARMTH

This one is a bit challenging.  What is warmth?  I keep thinking of home, comfort, reading, tea, a fire in the fireplace.

My favorite tea mug in my dining room at home.  It makes me smile when I see this photo.

My library.  My FAVORITE room in my home.

To me, this is warm and inviting.

WEEK 6: TEXTURE

Looking around my home to find items that have interesting texture led me to textiles.

Like this pillow, or this pillow:

But I also really loved this flower that is in with my art books in my 3rd floor studio/art room.

Oh, I do love this room.

WEEK 7: RED

My favorite fruit, at least it must be since I eat apples just about every day.

WEEK 8: Symmetry

I had so many great ideas for this week.  And then as I started to actually work on them, things were just not turning out the way I wanted.  I still had a great time working on it and sketching my ideas and all that.  So, first I submit a photo that i actually took a few years ago but it is perfect for this.

Lakeside Park in Fort Wayne, Indiana is so beautiful.

Anyway, my other ideas were more odd and I needed some identical twins.  I asked a few people and couldn't find some twins for my photo so I asked my lovely friend, Iris, if she would pretend to be 2 people in a photo.  I believe she nailed it!

I tried another version, both were somewhat inspired by Diane Arbus, a fantastic photographer who was well known in the 1960's.

WEEK 9: ISOLATION

I really was not inspired by this one but that is why I am doing this challenge.  I took this photo in West Virginia in July 2011 and it came to mind with this topic.

And this little isolated place, also.

Kristin's Senior Photos 2015 https://3rdfloorstudiosbyteresastephens.zenfolio.com/blog/2015/11/kristins-senior-photos Such a very fun, beautiful, family-loving, smart, young woman.  Kristin, it was so much fun taking your photo, I couldn't stop!  First, to honor her fire-fighter father, we started at the Firefighter's Museum then we hit some beautiful downtown spots before going to the park.  All the best to you and your last year of high school!!

Diana and Jason - Sept 26, 2015 https://3rdfloorstudiosbyteresastephens.zenfolio.com/blog/2015/10/diana-and-jason---sept-26-2015 Finding the love of your life is no small thing.  But, once you do, and all you can think about is being together, everyone can see it in your laugh, the sparkle of your eye, the way you are when you are together.  Congratulations to Diana and Jason.   Everyone was getting ready. Daddy, seeing his daughter for the first time, dressed and ready to be married. Proud papa and momma.

Amie and Dalton - Sept 4, 2015 https://3rdfloorstudiosbyteresastephens.zenfolio.com/blog/2015/9/amie-and-dalton September is a beautiful time of year and a lovely time to get married.  The wedding was scheduled on a Friday evening and the outdoor location was ideal. But then it rained.  And rained.  So, without any hesitation or complaint, the wedding was moved inside and these two fun, young, beautiful people were married to one another.  The rain stopped just long enough to get a few outdoor photos but then it started up again.  There was so much love it the room and in the eyes of the new Mr. and Mrs. it didn't matter where they were, as long as they were together.

Time for a hair cut. https://3rdfloorstudiosbyteresastephens.zenfolio.com/blog/2015/7/time-for-a-hair-cut I have had a photo in my head for some time that i hope to create today.  I have always had really long hair but I turned 50 just a couple of weeks ago.  Well, that long hair is just not as thick and pretty as it once was.  I am ready to cut it (not too short!) and donate it but I want to take a photo of it first.  I really don't think I'll let it get this long again.  As a long haired person, I am very unaccustomed to getting my hair done and just don't even think about it until I start clicking it into my seat belt and closing it in the car door.

So, we shall see if this works today, or at least this week!

UPDATE:  Here are the photos!  I was able to have a friend help me get these photos of my long hair before I cut and donated 11 inches.  I love it!  I have not such short hair for many, many years.
